October 15 & 16, 2011 Dellinger Park, Cartersville, GA

The weather was beautiful this weekend, in the mid 70's with no more than 10 mile in hour winds on Saturday and ideal weather conditions on Sunday, for the 2011 USDDN Disc Dog World Finals. The Live streaming was great, provided by Dan Phillips. Over the two days World Finals 65 Freestyle competitors from 18 States from the coast to coast of the USA and 8 countries competed with over 26 volunteers working hard so many disc doggers could play and have fun with their dogs. Out of the 65 freestylers who RSVP for the event 29 of them were international teams out of the actually attended 57 freestylers who could make it, and if you count the two more international teams in Super-Pro T&F then there was 31 international teams attending over the weekend. What was also so exciting was that competitors from 18 states (Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas & Virginia) across the USA competed over the weekend were turning up the heat during the competition. The competitors who attended were from the USA, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Japan, Poland, Spain, and Sweden.

This action packed weekend had not only the USDDN Disc Dog World Finals, but beginner Toss & Fetch, duck herding instinct testing, lure coursing, dog agility, and pet adoptions. 100% of the all of the food and drink concession stand proceeds were donated to the local humane society.

Since the USDDN Steering Committee decided to drop the USDDN National Finals and only host the World Finals the participation worldwide has increased. There were so many extremely high level of competitors this year it was amazing to watch from behind the microphone. Something new I added this year was to mention every competitors home USA state or country before and after the each and every competitor walked onto the field. So many competitors really likes hearing their own state or country as a representation.

With over 26 volunteers working non-stop over the weekend I want to thank them all for their hard work. Managing this World Finals Championships tournament becomes more challenging logistically each year, and from where I was standing being on the announcing microphone all weekend, there were so many incredible teams and rounds played over the weekend. It was amazing to see so many extremely talented competitors. The entire event over the weekend went like clockwork once we got started. So many competitors, volunteers and spectators also really enjoyed the other T&F divisions, Lure Coursing, Duck Herding instinct testing, and Dog Agility sports to participate in, too. This meant that a competitor could bring their other non-competing dogs to have a great time too. With a competitor field this big and with such great talented competitors and dogs from around the USA and the world, only two USDDN World Championship titles were up for grabs, so each year there are only two World Champions crowned in the USDDN World Finals Championships.
